Happy Friday!

Even though it’s been a long (long) time since I left school, my brain still seems to work by the school holiday calendar - which means that September is the time when I start thinking about all the life admin I put off doing over the summer.

Top of my list is finally getting my finances in order. If this makes you nod in agreement, you’ll want to check out this week’s guide which features seven “golden rules" for doing exactly that.

Scroll down for the usual roundup of the week’s biggest global headlines, our Friday quiz, shoutouts for our incredible ambassadors and culture recs to see you through the weekend.

Have a great one!

💸 The seven golden rules for securing your financial future

Time constraints, the male-centric financial advice landscape and not knowing where to start can leave many people feeling like they’re in the passenger seat of their own finances.

So how can readers rewrite the narrative and take control of their financial future? We teamed up with financial empowerment and networking platform Frankie’s, to create this handy guide.

📰 Read: This searingly honest and relatable Vogue piece by writer Kui Mwai. “I talked to four former friends to hopefully figure out why friendships are so hard for me,” Mwai wrote on X. “If you’ve ever lost a friend or felt lonely like me, this one’s for us.”

🎧 Listen to: Continuing on the theme of human connection, we recommend Conversations with People Who Hate Me - and don’t be put off by this podcast’s title! Host Dylan Marron connects people who have clashed online - from old friends to complete strangers - to explore why we believe what we believe and foster new connections.

📺 Watch: L’immensità (out in cinemas now), At Home With The Furys (Netflix), Takeshi’s Castle (Prime Video), Henpocalypse! (BBC iPlayer).

💌 Do: Subscribe to some other fantastic free newsletters. We’ve recently been enjoying Lunch Hour Links, Cheapskate London (also edited by The Know’s very own Kate) and merry makery (click below to subscribe👇).
