Read in 5m 39s ∙ Listening to Hope Tala

Hi loves — Lynn here, popping in with some news!

I recently welcomed my second child which has been both incredible and exhausting. ❤️(Shout out to all the tired parents out there – I see you!)

The late-night feeds can be difficult, and I realised I was turning to my phone a lot more than usual. I knew my relationship with media needed a reset and I decided to get some expert advice – check out what I learned below! Hope you find it as useful as I did.

❣️ How to reset your relationship with media

Author and campaigner Jodie Jackson on why she believes digital detoxes don’t work – and what you need instead.

Digital detoxes often sound like the perfect solution—cut out screen time, and your mind resets. And while a screen-free weekend can help recharge our batteries, they rarely address the underlying issue: your relationship with media.

Rather than focusing on restriction, you need a plan that fosters intentional engagement with media. Enter the Detox Drill — a simple yet effective approach to recharge your brain without cutting yourself off entirely from the digital world.

Your brain, like your body, needs rest. But in our always-on culture, intentional rest is often overlooked. That endless to-do list keeps us moving, but without strategic breaks, burnout becomes inevitable. Instead of waiting for your to-do list to finish, schedule breaks ahead of time. Intentional pauses are crucial to maintaining mental clarity, reducing stress, and improving overall well-being.

Here are three simple ways to build rest into your day:

Regular Brain Breaks. Every 60 to 90 minutes, take a 10-minute pause from mental stimulation. Avoid social media – stretch, walk, or practice deep breathing.

Unplug Before Bed. At least an hour before sleep, switch your phone to airplane mode or leave it in another room to help you wind down.

Morning Mindset Reset: Before diving into emails, spend 15 minutes practising gratitude, focusing on someone you love and visualising your goals. This helps you start the day empowered rather than reactive.

This is just a taste of what you’ll discover in Jodie’s Master Your Media, Master Your Mind course — a programme designed to transform your relationship with media and unlock greater mental clarity, emotional wellbeing and peak performance. 👉 Sign up here today 👈
