Take a scroll through the shots which made up this yearâs LensCulture Street Photography Awards (we especially loved Laetitia Vanconâs Tribute to Odesa). âThese 37 photographers from 15 countries have captured moments that might otherwise vanish in the blink of an eye,â said LensCulture. Women in England are being asked to help shape reproductive health policy by sharing their experiences in a âlandmarkâ government survey launched today.
Whatâs the survey about?
It aims to gather âvital dataâ on womenâs menstrual health, contraception, pregnancy planning and menopause, the Department of Health said in a statement.
Respondents are being asked to answer questions such as how much pain they experience during their periods, the way in which theyâd prefer to access contraceptive services and their level of satisfaction with any support received for menopause symptoms.
The findings will be used to âhelp shape future policyâ regarding womenâs health.
Why is the survey needed?
One of its aims is to âend the postcode lotteryâ impacting some aspects of womenâs healthcare, said Sky News.
The government has itself acknowledged that there are disparities across the country. Dr Rebecca French from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, which is delivering the survey, pointed out that poor reproductive health can also impact womenâs âmental health, relationships and financesâ.
Whatâs the bigger picture?
The survey follows the launch of the governmentâs much-delayed 10-year Womenâs Health Strategy last summer, which vowed to tackle decades of âsystemicâ and âentrenchedâ gender health inequality. In addition to a survey, ministers also committed to introducing more cancer checks and compulsory womenâs health training for doctors.
The survey is open to all women in England aged 16-55 and will run for six weeks - so make sure you have your say here!
