Hello hello
It’s been a fab week – we hosted our first ever book club on Monday and absolutely loved it. We spent the evening chatting all things My Name Is Lucy Barton (so many feelings!), diving into the themes of connection, loneliness and all the little in-between moments that make Elizabeth Strout’s writing so quietly powerful. It was such a joy to see so many of you there – nothing better than a good book and an even better good natter to start the week right.
Outside of that, I’ve spent the rest of the week getting better acquainted with The Life of a Showgirl – yes, I’m talking about Taylor’s new album. It’s safe to say it’s been on repeat at my desk (and in the kitchen, and on my runs…). Consider me fully in my sequins era.
Anyhoo, scroll on for our usual round-up of news and culture picks, plus a few of the team’s go-to hacks for keeping a good mental headspace 💫

🗞 Read: Has anyone else noticed that socks with sandals have become, dare I say it, cool again? This brilliant piece in The Observer explores the Gen Z case for the fashion statement and how it translates across different generations. Are you a proudly sporting ankle sock wearer with your shoes, or do you prefer a sock that is so discreet it gives the illusion of no socks at all? Trust me, I’ve been pondering it all morning…
📺 Watch: Victoria Beckham’s new documentary launched on Netflix yesterday and it has definitely lived up to expectations. I’ve also been watching the L'Oréal Paris show from Paris Fashion Week on repeat – it’s such a beautiful (not to mention glamorous) ode to female empowerment. Plus, Celebrity Traitors started this week, and yes, that’s all you’ll be hearing me talk about until November comes around.
🎧 Listen: The Art of Loving by Olivia Dean is all I’m listening to when I’m taking time out from The Life of a Showgirl. It’s just the perfect soundtrack for going about your day and, crucially, romanticising the commute. Man I Need is my current fave track… but then again that does change roughly every other day.

🧑🍳 Cook: I went to an event with Bold Bean Co. on Tuesday where their fab founder demonstrated a couple of recipes from their new cookbook. Everything was delicious but I can’t take my mind off the “beanotto” (risotto made with beans instead of rice). Simply scrumptious and they made it look so easy?!
