Happy Friday 🤗

There’ll be no newsletter from us next week, as we’re all taking a much-needed break. We’re seriously excited to put on our OOO, spend time with family and friends and not look at the news for a week…!

Earlier in the summer, I wrote here about the anxiety I often feel before going on annual leave – the pressure to ‘have a good time’ and make each day really count. A few of you wrote in saying you could relate, so for this week’s edition, we’ve pulled together some tips for switching off from work without putting pressure on yourself. Whether you’re also on holiday or just want to unwind a little more this weekend, I hope you find it useful.

We’ll be back in your inboxes on Monday 2 September, feeling refreshed and ready for the rest of the year ❤️

❣️ How to properly switch off from work

1. Turn off notifications
Switch off any breaking news alerts and try silencing text notifications too. That way, you can check your messages whenever you want, without feeling pressure to reply straight away.

2. Switch up your daily routine
Embrace the flexibility that being out of your normal routine brings, whether you’re going on holiday or staying at home. It could look like starting the morning with yoga or a lie-in.

3. Throw yourself into a hobby
Whether it’s trying out watercolours, picking up crochet or perfecting a recipe, getting stuck into an activity is the perfect way to reset and recharge.

4. Don’t overthink it
No matter how you spend the time, being out of your normal routine will almost always leave you feeling refreshed. So enjoy it! ❤️

Finally – if you’re heading back to the office after a break, The Conversation has 7 great tips for avoiding that back-to-work stress.
