🌸 An alternative approach to spring cleaning

Friday Edition Read in 5m 18s Listening to Amy Winehouse

Dear readers,

Spring officially started on Monday! And while it may not feel like it thanks to the drizzle and greyish skies, branches are beginning to blossom and temperatures are slowly rising.

If you hadn’t already guessed, we’re very excited about the change of season here at The Know. But during a recent chat, we realised that a lot of discussions around spring - and particularly the idea of spring cleaning - centre on the external (think: overhauling your wardrobe or dusting your home).

So for this week’s edition, we decided to offer up an alternative approach to spring cleaning: one that leaves us refreshed, rejuvenated and the best versions of ourselves - not in terms of our appearance, but how we feel inside.

Have a great weekend,

😲 STRANGER THAN FICTION

Shoppers have expressed anger following the news that Tesco is cutting the value of its Clubcard rewards scheme.

From 14 June, Tesco Clubcard holders will only be able to double the value of their Clubcard points (rather than triple them, which is what the current policy is) when they cash them in for a voucher to spend on a restaurant meal, cinema tickets or day trip.

The supermarket first introduced Clubcard - which has 20 million users - 28 years ago. But what many people don’t know is the reward scheme’s barmy origin story.

According to a report in The Herald in 1995, Tesco initially piloted its Clubcard following a £250,000 blackmail bid by a man called Frank Riolfo who was later jailed for eight years. Read the full story here.

🌸 An alternative approach to spring cleaning

When we talk about spring cleaning, what often comes to mind is the physical act: packing away winter jumpers, dusting surfaces and throwing windows open to let in air and light.

This time of year often sees us Marie Kondo-ing our items and surroundings, with an emphasis on the external. But it is just as important to apply this approach to the internal, taking time to think about what to carry with us mentally into the next season - and what to leave behind.

Intrigued? Our latest blog post is a guide to spring cleaning with your mental health in mind.
