Citizens, local government and private donors in the city of Dunedin, Florida, have rallied together to stop developers from building on 44 acres of native scrubland. Campaigners raised $10 million to buy the land in May 2021, ensuring the future protection of endangered plants. And on Saturday, the city opened the first section of the Gladys E. š¤Ā Brexit breakthrough
PM Rishi Sunak is in Belfast today, as he tries to win support for his new deal on post-Brexit trading arrangements in Northern Ireland.
Tell me about the deal.
A new Brexit deal was announced on Monday by the UK and EU. Sunak and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met in Windsor yesterday afternoon to host a joint press conference, and also gave the new deal a catchier name.
The Windsor Framework will effectively replace the Northern Ireland Protocol, which led to major disagreements between the UK and EU. It will remove most checks on goods moving from Great Britain to Northern Ireland, and provide the Northern Ireland Assembly with a way to object to certain EU rules. This is known as the āStormont brakeā.
Will politicians in Northern Ireland approve the deal?
Northern Irelandās assembly is not currently sitting, because the Democratic Unionist party (DUP) withdrew from power sharing over the previous protocol. The DUP are understood to be scrutinising the new deal before deciding whether to accept it and return to power sharing.
How has the deal been received by others?
The Windsor Framework has largely been welcomed in the UK and abroad. Labour has said that it will back the governmentās deal - but reminded Sunak that it was his party that signed the last one. And US President Joe Biden has hailed it as an āessential stepā in protecting the Good Friday Agreement.

A new study has found that moving back in with parents actually boosts the mental health of adult children.
Wait, what?
Yes, you read that correctly! Moving back in with your parents was once regarded as a backwards or even shameful step. But the first UK study to look at the wellbeing impact of moving back home has found that it is, in fact, associated with an improvement in mental wellbeing - a result that even researchers were āquite surprisedā by.
Why might this be the case?
Getting out of the stressful and expensive rental market appears to be a key factor. In one recent survey, almost half of 25-34-year-olds said that worries over rent had made them anxious or depressed. Researchers also suggested that the increasingly liberal attitudes of parents - who may be less preoccupied with what their adult children do under their roof - is making moving back home a more attractive option for many.
How widespread is the trend?
According to the 2021 UK census, nearly 5 million adults now live with their parents - a 14.7% increase on 2011. And a 2020 study estimated that a third of UK households are now multi-generational.
Is there anything else I should know?
While escaping a difficult rental market may boost some young peopleās mental health, itās certainly not an option available to everyone. And Polly Neate, CEO of housing charity Shelter, has stressed that moving back home is certainly ānot a solutionā to the present housing emergency.
