The Know Daily - Friday 20 October
🌷 Happy Friday! Here’s your headlines roundup, recs, quiz and more
Read in 5m 35s ∙ Listening to Lana Del Rey
Dear readers,
Confession: I have been spending a lot of time scrolling through skincare content online recently. Perhaps it’s a bit of an escape, plus it’s like the older I get, the more I lose my willpower to resist clicking on every article that comes up (can anyone else relate?!).
I know just how easy it is to get sucked down the skincare research rabbit hole. So when I first heard about EGF - touted as skincare’s latest “it” ingredient - I was seriously intrigued, if not a little apprehensive at the prospect of scrolling through another 10 or 20 search results trying to find the answers to my questions.
That’s why I’m so excited to be bringing you this science-backed guide to EGF in today’s edition. We spoke to our friends over at BIOEFFECT - the Icelandic biotech skincare brand - to find out what EGF (or epidermal growth factor) is, and why you might want to consider swapping out your collagen or retinol in favour of it 👀
You’ll also find our usual roundup of the week’s biggest global headlines and culture recs from the team to see you through the weekend.
Have a great one!

EGF explained: everything you need to know about skincare’s latest ‘it’ ingredient
When it comes to skincare, there are a lot of different products out there - and even more info about what they each do! Retinol, collagen and hyaluronic acid have all become household names in recent years - but there’s a new kid on the block: EGF, or epidermal growth factor.
We’re likely to start hearing a lot more about EGF soon. That’s why we’ve teamed up with BIOEFFECT - the Icelandic biotech skincare brand - to answer your most pressing questions.
📰 Read: This entertaining-but-actually-serious piece by The Independent’s Amanda Whiting on why it took so long for Britain’s best Wags to be taken seriously. Recent documentaries featuring Victoria Beckham and Coleen Rooney “prove that they were the true stars of their marriages all along”, Whiting argues.
🎧 Listen to: Our incredible co-founder and CEO Lynn Anderson Clark on the Favourite Positions podcast. In this illuminating recent ep, Lynn chats to co-hosts Alex and Alana about her career to date, ways to avoid burnout and the work-life desires of Gen Z and millennials.
📺 Watch: The Miracle Club (out in cinemas now), Bodies (Netflix), Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story (Disney+), Upload (Prime Video).
🛍️ Do: Invest in some wet-weather staples (and lament the fact that summer’s over). We love Danish brand Rains - these cargo rain pants are especially great, particularly if you’re out cycling during winter.
